The Farrell Family saw our web site and Happy Endings and wanted to relay another to us.  “In the summer of 2003 we called your hot line looking to rescue a Poodle.  You had a message for 13 standard poodles that needed homes in Fresno.  It was stated on the hot line that people interested needed to be very dog savvy, because these dogs had no house manners.  My three children and I hopped in my Volkswagen New Beetle and drove from Petaluma to Fresno to look at the dogs (that is half way to Disneyland for us).  We looked them all over and picked a black, young adult male.  We paid his fees and then drove home just to drive all the way back the next day with a bigger car to bring him home after his alteration.  Mylo was terrified of grass, could not go down stairs, was scared of doors and gates and was not house broken.  It took about two months but, with love, patience and a background in dog obedience training, Mylo has become a loved and respected member of our household.  I am now only sorry that I didn't bring home two.  He has a yard of his own, takes long walks on the beach and most nights sleeps in my bed with me and my husband.  He is loved and cherished by all of us and we couldn't imagine life without him.  He even went for the family portrait with Santa.  Thank you so much for being there and helping us to enlarge our family with such a wonderful boy.”

Buddy is a two year old standard poodle that we placed for the Peninsula Humane Society.  In his original picture (below left) he looks a little chagrined about his haircut!  He was a bit rambunctious and in need of some obedience training.  Sheila, Brian and their kids gave him a loving home.  They recently wrote:  “Buddy is doing very well and has become a very important member of the family!  He has brought so much joy to our home.  He enjoys being with the little ones and going for walks with Dad.  He also has become quite a pal for Mom.  His favorite things to do are wake up the kids every morning for school, go for walks, and cuddle.  He also loves to go for rides in the car.  He is a well behaved dog and gentle and loving.  We are so grateful to (NPR) for matching us up with the perfect dog.”

Li'l Bit was found in the middle of a road in Sacramento, severly undernourished, badly neglected, and with a broken leg.  Thanks to a team of caring volunteers, great veterinarians and Li'l Bit's will to thrive - he has recovered with good use of his previously broken leg and has been adopted by a loving family who wanted a companion for their young toy female.  His new name is Sebastian and he loves it.

Chellah is a three year old standard poodle that may have had six to seven litters during her previous life with a backyard breeder.  NPR rescued, spayed, fostered and accustomed her to living inside a home, which she relishes of course.  Gwen and Dick fell in love with her and provided her with a very comfortable and loving new home.  They have become regular visitors to a dog park where Chellah instigates running and playing.  We think Chellah looks fabulous with her new haircut and she seems quite proud of herself too.

It was just a short trip across the Yolo Causeway, but it was the beginning of a new life for Marley, a miniature poodle who moved from Sacramento to Davis with the assistance of NorCal Poodle Rescue.  Since moving to Davis, Marley has taken in “Celebrate Davis!” at Community Park; shopped, regularly, at the Davis Farmers’ Market on Saturdays; familiarized himself with the North Davis greenbelt; and gone to the groomer.  Checking out the other poodles in Davis, Marley decided he needed a new style to reflect his new life.  Unsure which style was right for him, Marley decided when in doubt, go classic.  As you can see in these before and after photos, Marley’s classic poodle cut conveys just the right air of dignity and authority.

Maggie, the Labradoodle, has a new name to go with her new life in a lovely section of Sacramento.  (Maggie was known as Sophie while she was with NorCal Poodle Rescue.)  Maggie was surrendered by her previous owner to the Sacramento SPCA Shelter where she languished for 2 months.  NorCal Poodle Rescue removed Maggie from the Shelter as soon as they heard she was there.  But, because Maggie had picked up kennel cough at the Shelter, she had to be boarded in a medical isolation unit while we looked for the perfect home for her.  We found it!  And Maggie is now happily at home with her extended family in Sacramento, charming the socks of the neighborhood (and everyone else she meets), and chewing up innumerable family belongings. For now, she has decided to emphasize the Poodle part of her heritage, as you can see from her stunning coiffure in the attached photo.

Gibson is a 3-year-old Standard Poodle that a back-yard breeder thankfully decided to surrender to us.  He was always kept outside and, as you can see from the picture on the left, he was not groomed.  However, he is a sweet, happy dog and we immediately found that the muzzle we put on him for grooming wasn't necessary!  Gibson was neutered and received basic care at Alpine Vet.  NPR volunteers bathed and groomed him.  We recognized he's a diamond in the rough.  Gibson's mate and two of their puppies were also surrendered and NPR provided the care they needed.  They are all in wonderful new homes.

Gibson has a great new home with Lani, picture above.  Lani is a vet tech and behaviorist and lives on 100 acres in the Sierra foothills.  Based on the pictures on the left, it's obvious that Gibson loves his new home with Lani, her family, and his new buddies including a miniature poodle, rat terrier, goat and horse.

Angus is a six-year-old Standard Poodle that caused some trouble with the livestock at his former home in Eureka, CA.  When one of his owners became seriously ill, they decided they needed to find a new home for him.  He now has a great new home in Tahoe, CA with Jerry and Maria.  He enjoys going on hikes and mountain bike rides, as well as visiting doggie day care to socialize with other dogs.  He gets along well with all of them!

Peanut is a ten to twelve year-old Miniature Poodle that we rescued from the Solano County Animal Shelter.  He was deemed not adoptable because of his poor condition and because he is almost blind.  One of our own fostered him back to health and then fell in love with him.  He now has a great, loving home in Walnut Creek and boy, is he loving back!

Beau is a white Standard Poodle with Addison's Disease who tragically lost his owner to breast cancer.  Fortunately we were able to help find him a new family and a new friend at Lake Tahoe!
